The Host

Al is from England, UK, and is a retired, award-winning sports coach who dedicated over 30 years of his life to sport and charitable work.
He is the proud father of grown up daughters and one young son, and has been closely associated with Sri Lanka for more than 25 years, dividing his time between England and the island.
Previously married and now happily unattached for the past nine years, Al has devoted much of his life to supporting others.
His long-standing commitment to helping less fortunate communities includes working as part of an NGO in the tsunami relief camps in Sri Lanka during early 2005, providing vital assistance to families who had lost loved ones and homes.
Although mature in age, Al has a youthful outlook shaped by a lifetime spent teaching, coaching, and working alongside younger generations. Known for his warmth, positivity, and wide-ranging sense of humour, he believes in finding light even during life’s most challenging moments.
Today, Al has embraced a new role in life: helping people feel better about themselves. He strongly believes that the villa, with its stunning gardens, peaceful surroundings, and natural beauty, provides the perfect environment to rest, restore, and recharge.
Passionate about sharing the magic of Sri Lanka, Al feels the island offers something truly special — whether guests wish to explore its rich culture and landscapes or simply slow down, reflect, and recuperate in a tranquil setting.
