Palm Stay
A gentle, one-to-one sanctuary — completely your own
Palm Stay is a one-to-one sanctuary for those who need time and space to rest, restore, and find steadiness again. It may be right for someone transitioning from rehabilitation, recovering from injury, moving through grief, or simply needing a quiet retreat away from the pressures of daily life.
It’s important to understand that this is not a medical or professional service in the slightest. It’s a service of a chaperone or escort if you prefer. One human to another who is willing to listen, care and help you enjoy the stunning surroundings of Mother Nature and with this away from all the hype of the world it has it’s own healing powers by just making you feel good about yourself.
We believe Palm Stay is genuinely unique — not because it tries to be, but because of how personal and attentive it is. It is quiet, private, and tucked away; a place that isn’t advertised loudly or run like a business. It’s simply a gentle environment where one person is cared for at a time, with warmth, steadiness, and presence.

There is very little else like it. It’s as unique as it is quietly hidden.
It is also a place for those who would welcome companionship. Many people feel lonely or unsure about going places alone — Palm Stay offers a supportive presence, someone to accompany you gently and make you feel safe and understood.
You have the entire villa to yourself along with your host and the Butler nearby — attentive, steady, and present when wanted, quiet when needed. The maid will attend daily and is within walking distance, that’s all we have at this very private location. This is an exclusive stay of two to six weeks, where every detail is taken care of from the moment you arrive. If preferred, the host can travel with you on your journey to the villa.

Your rhythm becomes the tide. Your needs become the shape of the day.
At Palm Stay, nothing is staged. The photographs—barefoot on the beach, drifting between island and shore—are memories caught in real light.
A young traveler once arrived carrying storms within her. The host walked beside her for many weeks, guiding her to the island and back to her homeland. By the time she left, the weight she carried had softened; she stepped into her future changed, and she has continued to bloom ever since. No medical intervention, no professional psychology, just willing to use the beauty of this tropical island as a means to clear your mind.

Talalla Beach lies in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, between Dondra and Dickwella, and remains blissfully uncrowded. In season, it becomes a nesting ground for turtles laying their eggs on the shore ( as you can see above), and if you’re lucky, you may even spot dolphins swimming close to the beach.
Each morning, local fishermen head out in boats that resemble oar-led Viking vessels. They cast their nets in a wide arc across the bay before hauling them back to shore in a scene that feels like a friendly tug of war. It’s a wonderful spectacle to watch—and if you feel inclined, you’re always welcome to lend a hand. Extra help is gladly received.
Talalla is far removed from the chaos of the Instagram brigade and the constant hum of selfie culture. This is a beach for peace and quiet, for long walks alone or meaningful conversations with a friend, uninterrupted and unhurried. By the time you leave the sand, you feel completely re-energised, as though the world has gently reset itself.
Palm Stay is a gentle threshold between worlds—
a place to breathe deeply, to unravel, and to gather yourself once more. Here, you return not only rested, but re-rooted.
We believe in the healing power of nature: the tropical surroundings, the nearby beaches, and the calm of our homely villa gardens all play a part in restoring balance. In a world that is often hectic and overwhelming, these simple, grounding elements become quiet tools for renewal.
When we speak of “recovery,” we use the word in its broadest sense. It’s not about illness—it’s about the universal need to recharge, to switch off, and to feel better. At Palm Stay, this happens naturally. Time slows, the noise fades, and before you know it, leaving is the last thing you want to do.
Each week if you wish we include a deeply restorative 1 to 2 hour body massage with Hemma, the villa’s long-trusted female therapist. Gentle outings can be arranged: mountain tea plantations like the amazing Amba plantation, waterfalls, beaches, temples, or quiet involvement in daily village life.

We can cook together too, becoming actively involved in the Sri Lankan way of preparing curries. Billy loves sharing and explaining how Lankans source, prepare, and cook their dishes, with the tasting always being the highlight of the experience.
If you’d rather stroll through the grounds or wander the local village, casual conversations and glimpses of daily life make for a wonderful experience. Or simply sit quietly with a book while the wildlife moves around you.
Everything is optional. Everything happens at your pace.

Palm Stay does not feel like a hotel and certainly is not a hotel. The villa has a gentle, homely atmosphere — the kind where you can relax, take your shoes off and they stay off, wander around as you like, and feel settled almost at once. Nothing is formal or rushed.
The cooking is part of that. Because of the owners English background, we can make familiar English comfort dishes if you’d like — including the villa’s well-loved Yorkshire puddings. They’re usually served with a traditional roast dinner, but here, they’re just as at home alongside a curry in the warm evening air. Fairy cakes with ambitious icing, Victoria sponge and many other fun attempts at baking in the kitchen. It’s simple, everyday food made with care, and shared in a way that feels natural, unforced, and easy.
The gardens are a quiet world of their own—lush, unfolding, always in gentle conversation with the sun. One guest who stayed a little over two weeks found herself drawn to their calm. Each morning she wandered among the growing blooms, tending to new flowers and losing herself in the small rhythms of the earth. She was never alone; the resident dogs, Nelson, Fido, Banjo and Birdie dozing in patches of warm light, rose to accompany her on her walks, offering their soft, wordless company.
The intention of Palm Stay is simple: to give you space — space to rest, reconnect, and feel supported.
Only two Palm Stay bookings are offered each year.
