Family fun

Although only a few families have stayed at the Villa so far—simply because it’s still a bit of a hidden gem—we’re excited to share some photos and stories from those visits. Families typically stay in the Peacock Room, and if the kids would like peacock-themed covers on the beds (always a big hit!), we can happily arrange this to give them that special “wow” moment when they walk in. ( see pictures)
Pool Safety
Please note that there is no lifeguard at the Villa’s pool. Children must always be supervised, and someone should remain attentive whenever they are in or near the water. For pool fun, we provide water guns and a few inflatables—provided our curious puppy hasn’t claimed them first! Banjo or Birdie will sometimes join guests in the pool, which is usually a delightful surprise for the children. The pool is 4 feet deep universally.

Meals & Snacks
We strongly encourage all meals and sugary drinks to be enjoyed at the kitchen table or outdoors. Being a tropical island, even the smallest crumbs can quickly attract and swamp our enthusiastic team of “crumb eaters.”

We can offer a baking session which the children adore being involved in making cakes especially trying to squeeze the icing onto the freshly baked cupcake and often the children feel the need to assist with the washing up normally using their tongue ! As you will see with the pictures we operate a very much home to home feel.

After the cooking is done, a shower and dress, the children are amazed at their own creations and wait for the cooling process to begin, which is longer due to the climate.
They become incredibly fast Master chef tasters.
Play-dough is another children’s activity that brings everyone together. At our in house events, each person is challenged to come top with suggestions and create the like of a frog, a peacock, and a dog—and the biggest laughs usually come from the enthusiastic parents whose artistic confidence doesn’t always match the final result.
It all adds up to a wonderful couple of hours filled with fun and laughter. Billy and the nanny, Nerosha, dive right in too.
Entertainment for Children
We have a large collection of children’s movies on DVD that can be enjoyed in the TV room. There is also a selection of children’s books and a toy box with various toys. If you want to watch a movie in the daytime there are black out curtains in place to assist so that the movie can be easily watched. There is also an AC unit which maybe used when all curtains are closed. It takes the edge of het out of the room
Exploring the Grounds

Billy’s home, known as Vanilla House, takes its name from our ongoing project to grow vanilla pods within the grounds. His home sits at the very bottom of the property, just below Banana Garden, and his open-air kitchen is always a favourite attraction. Children love wandering down to see what Billy is preparing, and he happily cooks for guests, inviting them to join in and experience authentic Sri Lankan-style cooking.
Adjid, our gardener, is the only other person you’ll see on the land and—much like Billy—he’s a big hit with the children. Many suddenly discover a passion for gardening and eagerly volunteer to help him. He is wonderfully welcoming and endlessly patient, and the children enjoy watching him work—or enthusiastically “helping,” which may slow things down a little but always brings plenty of smiles.
The whole experience here is one of inclusivity paired with privacy. The property is fully enclosed with a perimeter wall and an electric gate, creating a safe, secure environment where families can relax, explore, and enjoy every moment without worry.

Play & Activities

To keep everyone active, we have a grassed badminton court and within this area a unique table tennis ( aka ping pong) and even a five-a-side football goal for enthusiastic young footballers.
THE BANANA GARDEN
The Banana Garden is always a source of fascination—not only for visitors, but also for the passing monkeys we have to keep an eye out for. As the fruit begins to develop, we cover each bunch with a sack, which seems to do a good job of keeping curious wildlife at bay.
In this picture, young Arlo is experiencing a true Sri Lankan lifestyle and education—not just learning where bananas come from, but also discovering how birds and other animals use the growing fruit and surrounding leaves to build their nests.
For visiting children, the rapidly maturing gardens are a world of excitement, offering endless opportunities to explore, learn, and connect with nature. Grass steps and grass paths lead to different areas to see out.
